Happy Father's Day! Today's the day that we stop to thank our fathers for doing their part to bring us into the world – and raise us! Did you know that Father's Day isn't a very old holiday? In 1972, then-president Richard Nixon signed a proclamation that made the day a federal holiday. So Father's Day is probably younger than your dad, which means he labored away, unappreciated, for years before there was finally a day delegated just for him.  We'd love to make up for that, so we found this list of Dad-themed craft brews he can try out. Better yet, we've also put together a special beer tour just for him. Its history can be traced at least to 4100 BCE, but wine probably existed far earlier. It has always been around, kind of like your dad.  Speaking of dads, did you know that the Founding Fathers of the United States were oenophiles? Thomas Jefferson had cellar after cellar of wine, and John Adams personally toured Bordeaux.  So, as you can see, fathers and wine (and beer!) all have mutual histories. Father's Day was created to complement Mother's Day, and it is celebrated internationally throughout the year.  Here in the United States, Father's Day falls on the third Sunday in June.   The “Mother of Father's Day” in theUnited States was Sonora Smart Dodd, whose father raised her and her siblings after their mother died in childbirth.  She began trying to make it an official holiday back in 1909. It quickly caught on, and now fathers all over the world are honored for their contribution to families. Personally, we think that there is no better way to honor your father than by treating him to the delectable foods, wines, and beers we offer at our walking tours or our train tours.  After all, fatherhood is thirsty work!
