San Diego Wine Tours visits the 15th Annual Spirits Festival
Do you remember back in the late 80’s, the popular, yet difficult to find character, Waldo, in the red-and-white striped shirt? My children loved trying to find Waldo in the book: Where is Waldo, by British illustrator Martin Handford.
Waldo, was an inspiration for me when creating my San Diego winery tour company.
Let me tell you more about that…To us fellow wine and food lovers, even more pertinent today is: Where is Tasty? Tasty, the mascot for our company, is a wine drinking toy elephant (sshhh… he doesn’t know he’s not real)!
The team here at San Diego Beer, Wine and Spirits Tours love to provide Tasty Adventures for our guests.
Did you know we’ve had the pleasure of treating tens of thousands of guests since our company’s inception June 12, 2010? You may never have heard of a wine drinking elephant, but wherever our team goes, Tasty loves to travel with us.
This weekend, Saturday and Sunday, we’ll be tasting wine, beer, and spirits at the 15th Annual San Diego Spirits Festival!
We attend every year and we’re super excited to enjoy the festival at the beautiful Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla overlooking the ocean. The gorgeous views are free of charge, and admission to get into the festival is about $85 which is all inclusive! It’s so worth the admission price as you get unlimited tastings of fine spirits and get to see and taste creative cocktails that are being crafted right in front of your eyes. There’s entertainment too, and bites of delicious, local food offerings. You’ll probably find me on the dance floor, hope you can join us!
When you’re not spirits tasting (Halloween is coming, and so are those spirits!), join us on a wine and dinner chauffeured tour. We run that popular tour Wednesdays through Sundays, year-round.
We’ll pick you up at your home or hotel (most San Diego locations). You’ll get to learn from us tasting experts all about the local wines of San Diego. Not only will you taste the best of San Diego, we’ll show you iconic sights, point you to happy hours and the best speakeasy in town. (How we love those secret drinking establishments.) Your entertaining tour guide will even throw in curious history and fun stories of our local wine tasting regions.
By the way, we don’t travel all the way to Temecula (Riverside County). We stay close by and local in San Diego County, which happens to be the original California wine country. On this fully-guided tour, you’ll taste award-wining wines and enjoy gorgeous scenic views of the vineyards.
Now, where was I? Oh, yes, scary stuff, AKA, Halloween. When I was a little girl growing up in the United Kingdom, I had the chance to visit America during Halloween and was enthralled by their tradition called: Trick or Treat. When I got back to my little town in Devon, England, I went door-to-door in my neighborhood announcing, “Trick or Treat” (and trying to explain I wanted sweets). Unfortunately, for me, no-one was buying my plea. The only “goods” I received were doors shutting in my face!
Fortunately, for you, my dear readers, we’ll be having a scary and FUN time on the Halloween Wine and Dinner Tour, running throughout the month of October. (You can choose beer tasting at the wineries if you like.) There will likely be ghost stories in the barrel room, and wine (and chocolate) treats! And, we’ll take you behind-the-scenes so you can learn about the wine making process. You won’t want to miss that San Diego Wine Tasting tour. You can even dress up in your scariest costume (if you dare).
