San Diego Beer, Wine & Spirits Tours Honors Our Veterans
On this Veteran’s Day, San Diego Beer, Wine & Spirits Tours wishes to honor the men and women who have served our country. San Diego is a military town, and we salute you!
In Flanders Fields, a poem written by World War I Colonel John McCrae, there is a stanza,
“We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.”
Here is a great way to show your support for our Veterans… make your own poppies!
Materials needed:
- Red Tissue Paper
- 3×5 Cards
- Black markers
- Scissors
- Black & Green Pipe Cleaners
Step #1– Trace 3 different sized circles onto red tissue paper and cut them out.
Step #2- On a 3×5 card color a small black circle and cut it out. This will be the center of the flower and will help it keep its shape. Poke 2 holes through the black circle.
Step #3- Stack the 3 red circles with the largest on bottom and smallest on top & poke a hole through them with a pipe cleaner then thread on the black circle.
Step #4– Pull the pipe cleaner through about one inch then thread it back through the black circle and the red tissue paper and twist the end of the pipe cleaner around the stem.
Step #5– Wrap the green pipe cleaner and wrap it around the black pipe cleaner to create a stem.
Step #6- Pin it on your lapel and raise a glass to the men and women in uniform… past and present!
